Some of the state's historic steam engine trains, as well as modern passenger trains, are now used for these tours. Includes rides on 3 different scenic trains, a visit to the Greenbrier for a bunker tour, a tour of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and a dinner theatre!

Day 1
Ride the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. Enjoy the three-hour narrated excursion through a tranquil and pristine mountain valley with premium lunch included. View historic farms and lush mountain greenery. Around every curve you are rewarded with the splendor of native wildflowers, evergreens, and mixed hardwoods in an unspoiled countryside environment. Don't be surprised to see bald eagles overhead in pursuit of prey or gliding gently across the blue mountain skies as if to flaunt.

Arrive at Greenbrier and check in for your Bunker Tour. The declassified Bunker at The Greenbrier is a must-see experience that takes you behind the scenes and walks you through a fascinating period in the resort's history. Carved deep into the mountainside beneath our West Virginia Wing is an emergency Cold War fallout shelter. Once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility for Congress, The Bunker is now open to anyone interested in reliving a legendary piece of The Greenbrier history. Visit Green Bank Telescope Tour of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. This is the Green Bank Radio Astronomy Observatory intentionally located in one of America's most quiet spots. Here our scientists are listening for sounds from space, and you will tour the facility. NOTE: As of 12/7/22 allows only for vaccinated visitors. (Pending availability)

Travel to Durbin & Greenbrier Valley for trip aboard the Excursion Train. This vintage diesel-powered passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most relaxing mountain wilderness excursions in our Mountain Rail Adventure portfolio. On the trip to the Falls, enjoy a cold cut lunch, which is included in the ticket price. The trip culminates at the High Falls of Cheat, an 18? high, 150? wide waterfall located in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the region. If you're looking for comfort and spectacular views on a vintage train this is the ride for you!

Explore the WV Railroad Museum The West Virginia Railroad Museum is located in the historic Darden Mill in Elkins, West Virginia-a city that was built by the railroads. The Mill is on the corner of First Street and Railroad Avenue, two blocks south of the heart of downtown and the old railway depot. The Darden Mill was built in 1902, on land purchased from the West Virginia Central and Pittsburgh Railway Company. It was a grain mill between 1902 and 1943, run first by the Elkins Milling Company then by the Darden Company

Arrive at Blackwater Falls Boardwalk. You will enjoy beautiful views of the Blackwater Falls from the boardwalk overlook at the end of this short trail. this 0.2-mile out-and-back trail near Davis, West Virginia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 4 min to complete
Enjoy a farewell lunch at The Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls. The homely atmosphere of this place allows customers to relax after many 3 days of sightseeing. Service at this spot is something one can call fine.
